1. The new start time for Sunday bowling will be 10:30 a.m. instead of 10:00 a.m. This will give the people who want to make the 9:00 a.m. religious service a chance to do so and, for the rest of you, provide a few more minutes to relax and enjoy your Sunday morning before hitting the green.
2. It was again brought up what a great job Amo is doing and the amount of time he spends preparing and caring for the green. The other day he even polished all the bowls in the shack. Unfortunately, the voluntary deposits in the box have dropped in half. So, if you can see it in your heart to throw a dollar in the box, it would help Amo out.
3. I was told that some people did not receive my e-mail regarding the new ladder tournament; that information can be found at the end of these minutes.
4. We are applying to Santa Monica for exempt status or at least extended hours parking privileges at the new parking meters. If anyone has any pull at City Hall or suggestions let us know. At Holmby Park they made a deal with the City where they can park for four hours in the two hour zone. They simply put a sticker on the bumper and parking meter enforcement leave them alone. We will ask for that and a waiver of having to feed the meters. Keep your fingers crossed.
5. At the Southwest General Yearly Meeting that was attended by Ray Spiro, Alan Power, and Phil Dunn last Saturday, it was brought up that the United States Lawn Bowling Association is about $11,000 in debt. That association is supposed to help American bowlers in international competitions, promote bowling and it puts out a magazine (3 issues a year). We would hate to see it go under, so think about joining, for those of you who are not members and have any interest in helping them out. Their website can be found here.
6. Finally, we want to encourage all the ladies to pick a partner for the upcoming ladies and men pairs tournament. Named after our very own Bud Wakeling. the tournament will be held March 4th.
(Following is the information regarding the ladder tournament.)
Starting this February there will be a chance to compete at the Tournament Level or Club Level to become one of the best bowlers in the club, or an opportunity to simply play some great singles games against worthy competition.
There will be sign up sheets posted at the club. You choose the level of competition (Tournament or Club) you wish to play at.
The bowlers who finished one thru four in the singles tournament will start at the top of the Tournament Level ladder; thereafter if you choose to compete and sign up, you will be listed in alphabetical order (by last name) in the respective levels.
The rules will be posted behind the sign up sheet for all to review.
