The President's Cup
It
is that time of year again, when we challenge our friends at Holmby
Park LBC for the prestigious President's Cup. We have many players
who are members of both clubs and they all enjoy the spirited
rivalry of the day. The event is scheduled for Sunday, June 25th, from 9 am until 4 pm. President Bud Wakeling says he is keen to make
up for last year's disappointing performance at Holmby where we
went down badly after fielding less than a full team.
This
year will be different. We have plenty of players; if you would like to bowl in the event, please let Bud know. We are challenging from
our home ground and the word around the club is to expect a big
improvement.
For
those who choose not to play, there are seats around the green
plus the beautiful hill on the north side, which makes a great vantage
point from which to put down a blanket, enjoy the event and support
the teams.
Father's Day Tournament
The
club has organized a Father’s Day pairs tournament for June 18th. Please put your name in with Bud. Teams will be randomly
drawn to make it a full day of fun. Lunch will be provided;
please confirm attendance to help with catering.
A
hundred dollars in prize money has been donated in memory of Woolf
"Bill" Ring, a member of our club in the ‘70s.
Regular Bowling
The number of players has been steady throughout the week even
with many people away for summer vacations. Last Sunday, June 4th, we had about 35 bowlers. It’s a fantastic sight to see
so many people enjoying themselves out in the sunshine. We have
quite a few new members and many of our experienced bowlers are
very excited about the high standard of bowls they have displayed
after such a short period of time. Particular improvement has
been noticed among the women players under the guidance and encouragement
of our ever-popular Dixie.
